Why This Site Exists
I built Slot & MERV because HVAC filter shopping is confusing. Nominal vs actual size, MERV ratings, pressure drop, OEM vs aftermarket — it's a mess. Most "review sites" are fake: invented test results, fake urgency, fake author bios, and hidden affiliate markups.
This site is the opposite: real prices from public sources, timestamped crawls, OEM-published pressure-drop data (or "Unknown" if unavailable), and no fake reviews. Just a size finder and a price table.
What I Do
- Fetch real prices from Filterbuy, Aprilaire, and authorized retailers
- Timestamp every crawl so you know when the data was last checked
- Publish OEM specs (pressure drop, actual dimensions) when available
- Explain MERV ratings and 1-inch vs 4-inch slot differences
- Operate transparently: no fake reviews, no urgency tactics, no invented data
What I Don't Do
- No lab tests: I don't run air quality tests or claim to verify MERV ratings in-house
- No fake reviews: No fabricated user testimonials or product ratings
- No fake urgency: No "Only 3 left!" or countdown timers
- Prices are from public listings: We don't add a markup.
- No corporate persona: No fake "testing team" or generic author profiles

Technical Details
This site is built with Astro (static site generator), hosted on Netlify, and deployed from a public GitHub repository. No database, no user tracking, no cookies. Prices are fetched manually and timestamped.
The site is mobile-first, semantic HTML, and optimized for <1s LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) and zero CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift). No heavy JavaScript frameworks, no client-side rendering delays.
